Community Medical Care (CMC-Barren) Program:
Community leaders came together in 2002 to develop CMC’s mission to meet the healthcare-related needs of Barren County’s low-income seniors and low-income working adults who are uninsured or underinsured. In January 2022, CMC celebrated its 20th anniversary of service to Barren County and Glasgow and at the same time joined hands with T.J. Community Mission Foundation to become sustainable and stronger.

Senior Program:  Through this program, Barren County residents 65 or older, who are below the 200% Federal Poverty Level (FPL), are eligible to participate in a variety of services provided by CMC, including assistance of up to 75% of their prescription co-payments, up to $200.00 a month toward prescription medications.  Additionally, CMC on a case-by-case basis assists seniors through the purchase of dentures and hearing aid application fees.

Working Adult Program:  CMC provides access to basic health care through the T.J. Samson Family Medicine Center for Barren County’s working, low-income adults age 18-64 with no health insurance coverage.  Through this partnership, program participants pay a $20.00 co-pay for their first visit and $10.00 thereafter, with the remaining cost of services underwritten by our provider partners. Additionally, we provide assistance with prescription medications up to $150.00 for 3 months.

Volunteer Program:  CMC relies upon a wonderful team of community volunteers to assist our program’s one full-time staff member.  These volunteers perform a list of tasks including front-line assistance to program participants, distribution of service vouchers, communication with pharmacies and provider partners, and general office support, among other things.

Barrier to Care Program: CMC provides T.J. Regional Health’s oncology patients who are below the 300% Federal Poverty Level (FPL) assistance with their nutritional drinks, mastectomy needs, gas cards and/or transportation, wigs & mastectomy needs.
